President & Chief Executive Officer

Grant has over 20 years of commercial and technical experience in the energy sector. Grant was appointed President & CEO of BluEarth in July 2015. Prior to this appointment, he was Chief Operating Officer responsible for development, construction and operations of the company’s wind, solar and hydroelectric projects, and VP of Business Development playing a key role in securing approximately $600 million of development assets. Prior to joining BluEarth in 2011, Grant held several leadership roles in the renewable energy and natural gas business units at Suncor Energy. Most recently he was responsible for overseeing their Canadian wind power portfolio, including, at the time, joint venture interests in 147 MW in operation, 108 MW under construction and over 500 MW in development. Grant’s considerable experience in the asset lifecycle includes engineering design, environmental impact assessments, stakeholder relations, project management, regulatory approvals, construction and operations in Canada and internationally. Grant holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Masters of Engineering from the University of Alberta, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Calgary. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.

Kent Brown has been in the renewable power sector for over 14 years. He co-founded BluEarth in 2010 and was President & CEO until July 2015. Since inception, he led BluEarth in the acquisition, development, and construction in over $1 billion of long-term contracted, Canadian renewable energy assets, raised approximately $250 million in equity and $600 million of debt, and grew BluEarth to over 50 employees. Prior to co-founding BluEarth, Kent was CEO of Canadian Hydro Developers. Kent was a key contributor in Canadian Hydro becoming Canada’s largest renewable energy company – growing from 63 megawatts (MW) and 25 staff to 694 MW and 132 staff, with a compounded return to investors of 30% per year over a nine -year period, and an enterprise value of $1.6 billion when it was taken over in late 2009. Kent holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from Western University and is a Chartered Accountant. Kent was named one of Canada’s Clean50 in 2012; Canadian Innovator of the Year by Clean Energy Canada in 2014; one of Canada’s Top Energy Innovators by Alberta Oil Magazine in 2015; and one of Alberta’s 50 Most Influential People by Alberta Venture Magazine in 2015.

Chief Financial Officer, Co-founder

Kathy is responsible for financial and strategic planning, business development, planning and reporting, risk management, and tax and treasury functions. Prior to Joining BluEarth Renewables, Kathy was the CFO of Canadian Hydro Developers. From 2005 to 2009 Kathy was involved with significantly growing Canadian Hydro’s market capitalization and enterprise value prior to its take-over in late 2009 for an enterprise value of $1.6 billion. Kathy played a key role in the raising of over $700 million of debt and $248 million of equity to finance Canadian Hydro’s construction projects, as well as in the financial analysis and modeling of several successful competitive bids for power purchase agreements and acquisitions. Since joining BluEarth, Kathy has played a key role in approximately $1 billion in acquisitions. She has also been involved in many aspects of the development lifecycle, including securing project financing, negotiations of partnership agreements, including those with First Nations, securing contracts for major equipment and services, and managing financial and insurance risk. Kathy holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Accountant.

Kelly has fifteen years of experience in the renewable power sector, and co-founded BluEarth in 2010. Kelly was appointed Chief Operating Officer of BluEarth in July 2015 and is responsible for the development, construction and operations of the company’s wind, solar and hydroelectric projects, as well as regulatory approvals, environmental performance and stakeholder relations. Prior to this appointment, Kelly was VP of the Regulatory, Communications, and Operations portfolios during BluEarth’s intial five years. Before co-founding BluEarth, Kelly held leadership roles at both Canadian Hydro Developers and TransAlta Corporation supporting both the development of new renewable energy projects, as well as the operations of a diverse fleet of energy facilities across Canada and the United States. Kelly has overseen the permitting of many pioneering wind, hydroelectric and solar facilities to be built across Canada, and has provided key oversight in the development of over 2000 MW of wind, 600 MW of hydroelectric, and 60 MW of solar power. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Calgary.

Vice President, Business Development & Finance

Nick is responsible for generating acquisition opportunities, negotiating key commercial agreements and partnerships, and completing project financings at BluEarth Renewables Inc. Since joining BluEarth in 2012, Nick has played a key role in numerous acquisitions of wind, hydro, and solar projects, as well as successfully completing associated project financing. Prior to joining BluEarth, Nick spent over four years at Union Bank primarily focused on Canadian project finance transactions and corporate loan facilities. Nick has a Bachelor of Management (Finance) from the University of Lethbridge and a Masters of Business Administration from Queen’s University.

Sheri has been in the renewable power sector for over seven years. Sheri joined BluEarth when it was first founded in 2010 and she currently oversees the accounting, payroll, treasury, tax, insurance risk management and corporate activities for BluEarth, and all its subsidiary and joint venture entities. Prior to joining BluEarth, Sheri held senior level accounting and treasury positions at both Canadian Hydro Developers and TransAlta Corporation. Sheri holds a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration, Accounting (Honours) and is a Certified Management Accountant.
